There are no airports in Andorra and the nearest major airports are Barcelona, Toulouse and Girona. Of the three we would suggest using Barcelona in the winter months as access is often clearer.
The relatively new Lleida airport has good links to Andorra by road and has recently started accepting more flights into the region. Ski operator Neilson have recently announced that from the 2011-2012 ski season they will be using this airport for their ski package holidays as it will create quicker transfer times.
If you’re not traveling with an organized tour with pre-arranged transport to Andorra, Barcelona and Toulouse both have frequent coaches and buses running to the capital of Andorra, la Vella, with additional stops in the ski resorts.
Andorra Airport Transfers
There are bus and coach services carrying passengers from Reus Airport, Girona airport, Barcelona airport, and Toulouse airports into Andorra la Vella and the Andorran ski resorts.
Novatel Coach Transfers
Novatel is the main coach operator running transfers between the various airports and Andorra ski resorts:
For the 2011/2012 ski season there are 5 services per day from Barcelona Airport to Andorra with a journey taking 3.5 hours to Andorra la Vella.
Toulouse to Andorra is covered with two services per day also taking 3.5 hours
There are also two services per day from Girona airport (also taking 3.5 hours), but up until 30th November the Girona service only runs on Fridays and Sundays but will run every day during the ski season proper.
For the 2011/2012 ski season the airport transfer tickets cost 21 Euros Single and 31 Euros Return from Barcelona and Gerona and 26 Euros single and 34 Euros return out of Toulouse*.
The following link takes you through to the Novatel website in a new browser window and will open at the Andorra Airport transfer timetables in English. The website also gives you the option to buy tickets for your Airport transfer online.
Frogbus Coach Transfers
For the 2011/12 ski season Frogbus are offering 5 services a day on their routes between Barcelona Airport, Toulouse Airport, Girona and Perpignan Railway station and Andorra.
It is worth noting that Frogbus advance purchase fares if booking via the website are much cheaper than booking last minute at their various airport ticket offices.
The fares generally are comparable to those offered by Novatel and can be seen on the Frogbus Airport Transfer website here.
There are other operators offering transfers and travel to and from Andorra such as Autocars Nadal and Grup Montmantell but there websites are quite hard to navigate and difficult to glean relevant information from.
There are also public service buses between Barcelona and Andorra but by and large they take a lot longer and don't service the ski resorts as well as the dedicated transfer companies.
